In order to live independently, the individual will need to have a job. The individual will have to make enough money on the job to cover their living expenses at minimum. Having a job not only supplies monetary support, but also contributes to a high quality life. To find and keep a job, the youth will need to learn and adapt the necessary skills that are required.
Having a job is a huge responsibility that the youth often enjoys, especially when earning a salary. Additionally, the youth likes to work with people in their age group so they can encourage and complete tasks collaboratively. Our services will provide the resources on getting the youth a job, from the point of preparation to learning how to perform with excellence consistently. If the individual just wants a summer job, we will have the resources to assist them to reach that goal.
The youth will get the opportunity to earn minimum wage while gaining transferable skills at the same time. They will be able to attain even professional certification, and an opportunity to get used to a variety of work environments. All members of the SCC Residential Program will be able to participate in our employment programs, which will position them to work towards their high school diploma or GED.
All of the youth are exposed to some type of drug use or abuse in some way -- media, school, relatives, neighborhoods, etc. The youth will be able to find resources from our SCC programs to help address the topic of drug use.
